White Wednesday and What I've Been Up To!

Please meet the latest addition to our family...Madelyn Elizabeth! She was 5 weeks premature and weighed just over 5 lbs. (and yes she is crying in the pics). Sorry Madelyn.
It seems like ages since I have blogged about anything. Just missing my shop and all my customers. We officially closed the shop in December. I have rented space in a great shop in Kennesaw...Fleu de Coop! Come see us there. We still have the same look and try to add new things twice a week. My Mom is still on the mend (please continue to pray for her). I have missed blogging but please know that I have not missed your post because I read them daily! If you were in Texas in the fall you might have seen the settee that Madelyn is lying on. Thanks Peg and John! I bought it from a friend who bought it from French Vanilla. Small World!

Our Christmas Open House was a smashing success. Everyone had a great time enjoying Charlotte's wonderful home. Charlotte has a great eye and a true talent for pulling it all together. Her displays are to die for as you can see from the pics. I would like to take this opportunity to say how thankful I am for all her hard work and to let her know I am truly blessed to call her my friend.

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS...a road trip is always a good idea

My best Junkin Buddies and I decided to take a road trip....and are we ever glad we did! We went to Lilburn and got to meet sweet Rowann of Antiques in old town. This shop is full and I mean full of treasures. We found so much junk...uh... treasures, we were afraid someone would have to ride on the hood! Now we were getting hungry (you know junkin is very hard work) so we went to the Blue Rooster Cafe just a few doors up from Rowann. This place is soooo charming and the food was wonderful. Rowann's sweet husband had drawn us a map to a couple of other places to see while we were there, so , with renewed energy ...we were off. Thanks Rowann and her Husband for a wonderful day. And special thanks to my Junkin buddies Charlotte and Margot for your wonderful friendship!

New Junque for White Wednesday

These were my junkin finds this past weekend. The chalkware statue is one of the most detailed I have ever found. The acorns and sheep are concrete made from french molds. The white pumpkins are handmade and the chair ... fantastic. I love the ruffled skirt . The large mirror was a great find. The frame is very old and someone put a mirror in it. Well this was a load that almost didn't make it to the shop because I loved it all! Happy White Wednesday

Another Beautiful White Wednesday

I was looking around last night at some of my favorite things and decided to snap a few photos for "White Wednesday". If you haven't been there yet... head on over and see Kathleen at Faded Charm
and check it out! The first photo is a small portion of a very large painting by my favorite artist Fabrice Aberti. He and his wife Martha are two of the most talented people I know (and sweet friends). The next is of a lamp I found in a thrift store long ago. The brown cupboard is from France and it holds precious gifts from some of the sweetest friends a girl could have. The canister set is also from France and the frame above it holds old post cards. The special thing about these particular cards is the Post Office they were mailed to in 1908 which is now my shop! The shelf just holds bits and pieces of some of my Hotel Silver and grungy Ironstone, old boxes...just some of my favorite Junk. Hope everyone has a wonderful White Wednesday!

I was waiting to show pics of the new window when I had finished tweeking everything...but...it was soaked in the storm, so I will post the ones I had already taken. I found a wedding photo from the late1800's, and this became my inspiration. The grooms ears stick out and his hair looks like Eddie Munster. The Bride is beautiful, but, look closely, what is that behind her head...is that a skull?!!! Well, I had a steer skull and then found my little mannequin minus her fingers and the wheels began turning and.................

Who knew I would be plotting a course to drive to work since all the roads around me are closed. Who knew that I would be spending my day dumping the buckets, bowls and enamelware from the roof leak at my shop and and cleaning repairing and redoing, who knew that after sending out the invitation to stop by my shop for a quick respite, major highways would be closed due to flooding.... The invitation stands! If you can get here, we would love to meet you! You just might need a boat!

This was my yard...

I was watching the Weather Channel this morning when I realized they were filming in the parking lot of my shop! Went to check on things and found all roads to the shop were under water. Our roof was leaking all over the place, but we were lucky. We have had 15" of rain in a day and a half! Please pray for the families that were not so lucky. Four lives were lost today. People were rescued by boat and bused to higher ground.

By way of Georgia... I am offering an open invitation for a short respite from your travels...We will have coffee, tea and refreshments . We are only 30 minutes from the airport and if you are traveling I-20 we are 15 minutes from the Thornton Road exit. Why you ask? Because I won't get to go to Texas ... AGAIN!!! I have been dying to meet all my blogger peeps for soooooooo long so I started thinking (dangerous) Maybe they need coffee or some snacks to tide them over or just a smile and a hug and good wishes, so , if you are in the area call (404-409-8129) day or night and we will have the coffee pot going. The apron workshop was a huge hit. The Ladies really shined. Gerri made box dinners for everyone. the cute little box in the pic was filled with pasta salad, chicken croissant, rosemary breadsticks and cookies! Gerri always makes the packaging for the workshop as interesting as the project. Just take a look at those altered hangers! And the finished product...simply beautiful.

During our last workshop I had mentioned to one of our sweetest customers how I had been looking for a swallow stamp. Well I came to work last Saturday and here it was . Thank You Hassie sooooooo much. In the past she has brought me a Mary Jane's Farm magazine, fresh rosemary from her garden , chocolates in the sweetest jar she wired to be a candle holder. Being a shop owner can be very stressful and tiring but the friends we meet along the way make it all worthwhile. I am truly blessed.

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay but blogger would not let me post. Well as promised, I will post more pics but first I would like to tell you a little about this person. She and her Mom came into my shop last year and fell in love with it. We in turn fell in love with the two of them. They are truly two of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Shortly before Christmas she invited Gerri (our jewelry designer and workshop guru) and myself to have lunch at her home. From the time she opened the door until the moment we left, I never took my eyes off the walls, floors, ceilings, crooks and crannies, well you get the idea. Anyhoo, we have become fast friends since that time. We still have lunch ... Mexican and a margarita across the square, oh and did I mention they are from the great state of Texas!!! Thank you Charlotte and Margot for all your love and support. Well there are plenty more pics coming so stay tuned...

WELL AFTER RUNNING LIKE A CHICKEN WITH HER HEAD CUT OFF TRYING TO REPLENISH THE SHOP AFTER THE SEVEN SPRINGS FESTIVAL, GOING TO LAKEWOOD 400 TO SEE THERESA & CRAIG SMITH AND THE 2 CHIPPY'S (GREAT TO FINALLY MEET YOU LULU) AND REALIZING TWO DAYS AGO THAT THE SHOP ACROSS THE STREET WAS HAVING CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE TONIGHT!!! AND THAT IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO STAY OPEN LATE, I DECIDED TO CLOSE EARLY AND COME BACK LATER TO REOPEN FOR THE SALE.( I KNOW... RUN ON SENTENCES, BUT THIS IS HOW I TALK WHEN I GET EXCITED.) WELL I HAD PLANNED TO CLOSE AT 2:00 BUT PEOPLE KEPT COMING IN SO I STAYED. WELL THE MORE WE TALKED THE MORE WE REALIZED THAT WE KNEW THE SAME PEOPLE AND I MENTIONED BLOGGING AND SHE SAID SHE HAD A BLOG THEN SHE SAID THE NAME...PINK ROSES!!! I had the great pleasure of meeting Laurie, one of the 2 chippy's at lakewood 400. I knew her immediately from her blog ... which i read daily! These women got it goin on. I love their blog, i love their stuff even more. Chippy, rusty, peely, and loved through time. If you haven't read their blog...what the heck are you waiting on? Well we were busy in the shop on Saturday when low and behold i looked up and Laurie was coming to the door!!! I was soooo thrilled. What a treat. Well she shopped, took lots of pics, and posted them on her blog(thanks Laurie, I am honored) and before she left we talked...Texas ya'll...Round Top that is. Hope to see you in September!

Have you ever wondered what makes some people extraordinary? How they are able to take ordinary objects and make them into something spectacular. Well it was my great pleasure to meet Theresa & Craig Smith of Time Worn Interiors at Lakewood 400. They are two of the most extraordinary people i have ever met. (and the sweetest too). If you aren't familiar with their work, just google country living magazine double wide. or check out her blog. I got the most wonderful goodies from them...they are now in the shop so come by soon because they wont last long. we can put on a pot of coffee and you can read the full article from country living. thanks Theresa for everything!!!

hello and welcome to my very first blog. i have been reading your blogs for months now and wishing i had a blog... well thanks to my wonderful daughter in law i am finally up and running. yeah!!! (and on her birthday no less). so here goes. i opened my shop in october 06 and since then we have built a loyal clientele from as far away as california for which i am so thankful. but the one question most often asked is do you have a website or a way to see all the new happenings at the shop.... well now we do. please take a look at the photos and if you have any questions please email me at prdmal@aol.com. now i would like to tell you a little about our shop. we have vintage items, antiques, vintage inspired items, wonderful refound jewelry and it's all french inspired, but the most important thing to remember about our shop is almost all the items are one of a kind finds. we bring in fresh inventory almost on a daily basis as i am a treasure hunting addict. so if you are in the area please stop in .
